The Problem
The analog look usually means shooting flat, then fighting with an editing app and a stack of presets afterward — and it never quite matches what you imagined in the moment.
The Solution
RetroCam applies the effect live on the viewfinder so what you see is what you capture. Swipe between five hand-built filters, tap for a photo or hold for up to 15 seconds of video, and toggle filtered-vs-original on the result screen before you save or share.
What you get
VHS
Chroma bleed, tracking-noise bands, a warm shift, and soft vertical jitter — the real tape look.
CRT
Additive scanlines, barrel-warp vignette, phosphor tint, and a hint of bloom.
8-Bit
Pixelation, a posterized colour palette, and Bayer dithering — proper chunky pixels.
B&W Film & Lo-Fi Digicam
Animated grain with a classic film tone curve, plus the over-sharpened, punchy early-2000s pocket-camera look.
Live photo & video
Swipe to switch filters on the viewfinder, tap for a photo, or hold for up to 15 seconds of filtered video.

Questions
- Are the filters applied live or after?
- Live, on the viewfinder, before you tap the shutter — the effect is baked into the photo or video at capture. You can still toggle filtered vs original on the result screen.
- Can I share straight to social apps?
- Yes. Save to your camera roll or share straight to TikTok, Instagram, BeReal, or anywhere via the iOS share sheet.
- What does RetroCam access?
- Only your camera, microphone (for video), and add-only Photos access to save. No account, no internet, no tracking.
